Know What “Success” You Want to Achieve in Gambling
Gamblers playing in the best online casino in Malaysia have different definitions of success. Different levels, particularly for gamblers, lead to different behaviors and expectations for these activities.
Here’s an example: your definition of gambling success can entail winning big jackpots. You recognize that there are few and far between big jackpots, and you’re willing to accept those occasions when you don’t win money. You may even be dedicated to winning like a million dollars a single life-changing number.
My vision of gambling success can involve playing blackjack or poker for a living. I’m not going to ever win big jackpots at the blackjack or poker table, but I’m not going to experience the same kind of long losing streaks that you’re going to see. I don’t want to make a single big score. Through time, I want to make a stable money to support myself and my children.
By realizing what success looks like ahead of time, you may not be able to plan for it. And spend some time dreaming about what kind of success you’re after with gambling.
Then we can start planning how this success can be accomplished.
Design a Plan
The action plan is just a list of prioritized steps that you will take to achieve your target. Here’s an example of an aspiring pro poker player action plan:
Save $100 out of the paycheck each week for a year to accumulate a $5000 bankroll.
Launch an online poker room play money account.
Play on the play money account for 100 hours and show a profit from gambling money.
Read Super / System, Advanced Players ‘ Texas Holdem Strategy, and Small Stakes Holdem.
Memorize the Texas Holdem Advanced Players Start Hands Map.
Find a few home games with low stakes to play in.
Start playing real money poker at two or three different real money sites and at two or three brick and mortar poker rooms.
Your plan of action may be more complex than this and may include deadlines. You will also want the action plan to be changed over time based on your performance.
I’m going to have to say more about that.
Apply Your Plan
Implementing the schedule is simply taking the things on the list, usually in the order you’ve written the list. This may require some effort that you haven’t yet. All you do is do it.
Start by setting small goals like making your bed every morning if you need help developing self-discipline. To record your progress, set up some kind of monitoring technique. Developing a target takes three weeks. Build a checklist or map where a star or some kind of visual feedback can be provided to yourself.
Jerry Seinfeld used to say that not cutting the chain was the trick. His target was every day to write a joke. He’d put a big red X on that calendar date when he wrote a joke, the intention was never to break the chain.
He had written 365 jokes after a year. Keep that up for 10 years, and you’re going to have a lot of jokes written. Practice improves the abilities of all.
Nonetheless, I’m not a major simulation believer. I have never seen any scientific evidence showing that visualizing your goals is having any real impact on your level of motivation. But, if you think it’s going to work for you, go for it.
Implementing the strategy at the end of the day means taking the actions that you mentioned as part of that plan. It’s a simple thing.
Check And Monitor Your Plans
The real difference between a serious player and a novice is that the serious player keeps records in paper. This is particularly true for players with advantages. If you keep records, you have no way of knowing if you are meeting your goals.
Such documents need not be concerned too much. You don’t have to use Excel spreadsheets, but if you want to, you can. Like a spiral notebook, you could also use something as low tech.
If your gambling habits are going in the direction of your ambitions is important to understand.
React with the Results You Acquire
I read somewhere that up to 90 percent of the plane’s path is off track. Yet finally the aircraft will always make it to their destinations. That’s because they’re making changes to the course all the time.
Changes that you may have to make based on the results of your gambling may differ. You can decide that blackjack is for you the wrong game and turn to poker, or vice versa. In the beginning you could hit a bad losing streak and have to play for lower limits to avoid ruin risk. At Omaha, you may be able to make more income than Texas hold’em.
Nonetheless, you can’t make these changes to your action plan without keeping records.
Reevaluate You Plan and Your Gambling Goals
How you expect to get out of your gambling hobby will change over time. Once you’ve won a million dollars or more to play poker tournaments, do you still want to sweat it in between big tournaments at the limit tables? You may want to refrain permanently from gambling.
You may decide that you don’t want to play professionally anymore. Perhaps gambling advantage needs more diligence and commitment than you would like to pay. Yet gaming is something you love, so instead you plan to become a slots player.
The opposite may also happen. You may be a dedicated roulette player who is not concerned about generating profit consistently. You may decide to change your goals at some point and become a professional poker player. Or you could switch to poker video.
People are not creatures that are static. Over time, they change.
It’s only normal that they too will change their gambling targets over time.
